Juventus did not start the new season well at all. Besides, the departure of Cristiano Ronaldo is constantly being discussed, after which the Bianconeri were unable to keep up with the newcomer. What did coach Massimiliano Allegri say after the loss to Empoli?
In the first round of Serie A, Juventus could only draw 2-2 with Udinese. Cristiano Ronaldo started the game on the substitutes’ bench, but after coming on the pitch he did not contribute to the point.
Juventus entered the second round without the Portuguese star. However, they were no match for the newcomer on home soil. Empoli managed to win 1-0 in Turin.
The Bianconeri suffered mainly from inefficiency. Federico Chiesa in particular was dangerous, but he couldn’t save his team’s offensive. The absence of Cristiano Ronaldo was noticeable in a way. He would have been useful at least in the centre of the sixteen.
Coach Massimilano Allegri, however, wants to forget Ronaldo quickly: “He spent three years here, he scored goals, he is an extraordinary player. But we can’t think about him all the time. I have an excellent squad at my disposal.”
Besides, the Juventus coach believes his charges are mentally resilient and a bad start to the new season will not bring them down.
“I’m optimistic all the time. It is not possible to dominate in all matches. We have to be patient and play calmly, as a team. We must not play as a bunch of individualists,” Allegri added.
The national break is currently on the agenda, giving Juventus players time to get their act together. However, nothing easy awaits them on 12 September, as they will play in Naples.
