Wayne Rooney on the scene again! He could be coaching in England again after the Birmingham debacle

Wayne Rooney did not make a good name for himself in his last coaching engagement. If he had a great reputation after his stint at Derby, it fell off considerably after the Birmingham fiasco. Still, he could be back in the job soon. An English second division club is interested in him.

As a footballer, Wayne Rooney has earned worldwide respect. Throughout his career, he has been one of the best footballers on the planet. And one of the most complete. He has scored goals from all sorts of situations, he has passed them on, he has rebounded a lot, he has run a lot, he has played in many positions and he has played brilliantly everywhere.

The top goalscorer in Manchester United’s club history and the second top goalscorer in the history of the England national team is looking to make a similar impact as a head coach. But so far he hasn’t been very good at it.

He gained the most respect after he stayed at Derby County after his career ended, which he tried to keep afloat despite points deductions and financial problems. He may not have managed to keep his traditional club in the second division, but if it wasn’t for the points deductions, he probably would have.

But then things started to go downhill. After his stint in the East Midlands, he headed for the United States. He signed up with D.C. United, where he played as a player. The result? Poor. His team averaged 1.04 points per game in 53 games.

But the biggest flop came when he returned to England. From America, Wayne Rooney made his way to the West Midlands, specifically Birmingham City. When he took over the club, the team was on the verge of fighting for promotion to the Premier League.

However, the arrival of the English legend saw a decline. The Blues lost nine out of 15 games and were sacked. The club never recovered from the bad situation and were relegated to League One.

Wayne Rooney looks set to return to the scene soon

Wayne Rooney has been out of contract since January. But that could change soon. According to the BBC, he is in talks to return to the English second division. Specifically, he could take the helm of traditional side Plymouth Argyle.

The Englishman himself is keen to repair his reputation and this could be the right move. The club is without a coach, sporting director Neil Dewsnip knows the legend of English football from Everton. All of this plays in favour of the top goalscorer in Manchester United’s history.

Plus, Rooney wouldn’t be under so much pressure. Plymouth just barely held on in the second tier of the league, in which they were newcomers this season. Overall, he has never looked among England’s elite in history, nor has he picked up success in the second division. He’s more used to playing in the lower leagues.
