Votíková on the professionalism of women’s football in the Czech Republic: a vicious circle! Girls have other jobs besides football

Women’s football is on the rise in the Czech Republic. Sparta and Slavia have more professional female footballers over time, but this is not the case in other clubs. According to Barbora Votíková, a new signing for French PSG, this is one of the reasons why women’s football in our country is not attracting fans.
The top women’s football league is picking up over time, but it is still only about two teams, namely Prague’s Sparta and Slavia.
Only these two clubs have managed to win the championship title in the history of the competition. At least Slovácko is keeping up slightly, but in the next matches it’s more about how much Sparta and Slavia will give to their opponents.
And titles are basically won only through four mutual matches, in which it will be shown which team is currently better off.
What is the reason for this dominance? Professionalism, or rather unprofessionalism. The vast majority of female players have to have a side job while playing football, because they don’t play football for a living.
“It’s a vicious circle. The quality of the players is not so high in our country, so the public is not so interested in the league. But the moment the league becomes better, teams will bring good players here and provide them with adequate facilities.
Girls to be professional and not have to have any other job besides football. It would also make it more attractive to people. Itgoes hand in hand,” Barbora Votíková, former Slavia goalkeeper and current PSG player, told iSport.
But the Czech female footballers are improving and fighting. For example, on Friday they played a World Cup qualifier in the Netherlands and drew 1-1. And the opponents equalised only at the end.
