On Friday evening we witnessed the final of the FAČR Women’s Cup, which was played in Vlasim, although the biggest Prague teams played against each other. We could read negative reactions to the date and venue, but in the end over 1,000 spectators found their way to the stadium.
And they could watch the fourth spring derby of the year. The first one was dominated by Sparta, the second and the third by Slavia, who won the league title without any problems thanks to many Sparta losses in the end.
Sparta wanted to return the favour in the cup, Anna Dlaskova scored in the 42nd minute and the potential success was well on its way. Eliška Sonntagová could have increased the lead shortly afterwards, but she was inaccurate.
Slavia changed their team significantly in the second half and it was evident in their performance. The ball was put into the net in the fifth minute, when Tereza Kožárová scored with a header.
It was so certain that it would come to penalty kicks. Experience decided them. The first five penalty kicks were converted by the players, on the side of Slavia Stackpole, Khýrová and Bendová.
Sparta’s Pochmanová and Vyštejnova, but Kotrčová didn’t convert and the Slavs were on a roll. Foster didn’t score a goal and Stibůrková had a chance to equalize, but she didn’t even hit the target.
