Vítězslav Jaroš on Liverpool: I could probably be a three. I could be one of them

He won’t remember this past season in the best of terms. Twenty-one-year-old Vítězslav Jaroš was a guest at Stockport and played his last game last October when he was injured. He now returns to Liverpool and will be looking to prove he is a quality goalkeeper at the U21 European Championships.

Vitezslav Jaros is still a regular Liverpool player, however he has been going on loan year after year. He has been successful at St. Patricks and has also been a regular goalkeeper for Notts County.

In the summer, however, he headed to Stockport and although he was the number one, he dropped out of the lineup after an injury and then did not return to the goal. He spent half a year on the bench.

“An injury came, I was out for two months. When I came back, the team was just winning and the other goalkeeper didn’t make any mistakes. Those who know football know that a goalkeeper doesn’t get taken out when he has a good season. It was hard to accept.

When you go on loan, you want to play. I’ve played in about 12 competitive games, the last one in October. It’s not like the guys in the midfield who can come on for maybe ten or fifteen minutes. When you are a number two, you don’t get caught,” he said in an interview with Sport.cz.

Now his loan spell is over and he will be able to confirm his qualities in the national jersey before returning to Liverpool, as they will be part of the squad for the U21 European Championship.

“The European Championships is the biggest stage for youngsters to prove themselves. I’ve always loved going to the national team, we have a great squad. I will do everything for the team, ” he added.

In the national team he was supposed to cover the back of Matej Kovář, who was number one in the championship Sparta. But he decided to heal his injured leg and when Antonín Kinský had to leave the team, it was basically clear.

Jaroš, who got his chance in March in a friendly against the Netherlands, should be the Lions’ number one. And after the tournament he will decide what to do next. He can stay in Liverpool.

“I could probably be a number three. You can prove yourself, please the coach and settle more in the team. I probably want to play more, especially after last season. We’ll see how everything turns out,” he finished.
