Thursday night brought a battle for the top of the table in one of perhaps the most watched leagues today. Ronaldo’s Al-Nassr failed to defend its top spot and the famous footballer was furious.
Both Al-Nassr and Cristiano Ronaldo himself had a very successful February. They didn’t lose any of their four matches, helped greatly by the famous Portuguese who was on a goal scoring spree.
In those four games, he scored eight goals to which he added two assists. Al-Nassr thus continued to hold the top spot in the table.
Al-Ittihad, however, was on his back and was also the last team to beat the leading team in the table. It was a match in the semi-finals of the Super Cup, where Ronaldo’s team fell 3-1.
If Al-Nassr had won the match, they could have gone into a five-point lead. However, this did not happen. Al-Ittihad handled the mutual match better and after a slim 1: 0 win they take over the top of the table.
The loss, like every other, was very hard for Ronaldo to take. After applauding his fans, a teammate put his arms around his shoulders and said something to him. The Portuguese was clearly not happy with this and started throwing his arms around.
A few moments later, before going to the changing rooms, he kicked a lying water bottle very furiously.
Ronaldo is simply a born winner and he experiences every failure very hard and emotionally. It is admirable that after all he has achieved in his career, his hunger for victory and success is still the same.
In Saudi Arabia, the league is played over thirty rounds. So the legendary footballer and the entire Al-Nassr club have ten games to go to erase the one point deficit and get to the top of the table.
