West Ham drew 0:0 with Brighton in the 20th round of the Premier League. The Czech Republic’s Tomas Soucek played the whole game and could have been the hero of his team, but he did not follow up his recent goal-scoring performances.
The crowd waited in vain for a goal in the West Ham vs Brighton game
West Ham players came into the match as the slight favourites. Shortly before half an hour of play, James Ward-Prowse tasked the goalkeeper, but Jason Steele dealt with the shot. At the other end, Alphonse Areola made a nice save after Danny Welbeck’s header.
In the 33rd minute, Jack Hinshelwood found himself alone with the ball in the whitewash, but Areola pulled off a great save against this shooter as well. Late in the half, Pascal Gross got on the end of a cross, but his header also ended up in the goalkeeper’s hands.
In the 59th minute, Joao Pedro broke free and fired. Goalkeeper Areola had no problem with this attempt either. Then Tomas Soucek had a chance on the other side. However, the Czech international was unable to get the ball between the three posts.
Then Brighton players continued to have chances, but Areola was not going to let a single ball go behind his back. In the 89th minute, he made a great save against Adam Lallana’s shot and kept the clean sheet.
Hammers earn a draw
The second Czech international, who is wearing the Hammers jersey, did not play at all. Vladimír Coufal missed the game due to illness.
West Ham held on to a goalless draw 0:0 and stayed in sixth place in the premier League ranking despite a lot of chances from Brighton. The visitors are in seventh place, three points behind their opponents.
