The match against Volendam was a fatal one for Michal Sadilek. The 23-year-old midfielder, who has played for Slovácko, PSV and Slovan Liberec in the past, injured his groin and had to take a long break.
At first it looked like a few weeks, Sadílek himself told the fans this information. However, he did not play again in the autumn, his last appearance was at the end of August.
After the end of the autumn part of the league competition he returned and started to play in friendly matches. In the first match of the year he was no longer in the starting line-up. So did his teammate Václav Černý.
Twente hosted Emmen at home in the 15th round, who will fight to keep their first league affiliation. And Sadilek helped Twente to beat them.
He even scored a goal in the 67th minute when he fired a beautiful shot from outside the box after a pass from Virgil Misidjan. He gave the goalkeeper no chance.
He didn’t celebrate the goal properly, he fell to the ground in shock and his teammates gradually came running to him. It must have been a really special moment for Sadilek.
After the match, he received a big applause and even a chant to welcome him back to the pitch.
Twente are now in fourth place with a 2-0 win, but have the same number of points as second-placed Ajax and third-placed PSV. However, they are yet to play their matches in Round 15.
