The end of this year’s league competitions across Europe is approaching and the Dutch Eredivisie is of course no exception.
Rotterdam’s Feyenoord, led by stopper David Hanck, dominated this year’s competition, but the league competition in the land of the tulips also bears a significant Czech footprint.
It consists of the pair of Václav Černý and Michal Sadílek in the Twente jersey. This Dutch team is experiencing a very good season this year, among other things thanks to the Czech players.
In the last league round, in the duel against Waalwijk, it was not the traditional goal scorer Černý, but his colleague from the midfield, Michal Sáček.
In addition to scoring a goal, the player with the number 23 on his back also scored an assist and thus underlined the sovereign 5:0 victory on the opponent’s turf.
Sadílek’s goal increased the already almost decided match to 4: 0 from the guests’ point of view.
The whole action was started by midfielder Virgil Misidjan, who found the advanced midfielder Smal on the wing. He then directed a precise ground ball into the box, which found Sadilek.
The Czech international was understandably not happy in the end from relatively close to goal. However, the final 3-point gain did not change the situation in the Eredivisie table for Twente. Coach Ron Jans’ charges are currently in 5th position.
And the 5th place will be the final position for the team, notwithstanding the difficult last league round, where Twente hosts the favored Ajax Amsterdam. Černý and Sadílek will play the final playoff for the participation in the next year’s Conference League.
They will face Sparta Rotterdam, Utrecht and Heerenveen. However, it should be noted that the team from Enschede has a significant point lead over the last two.
Twente’s hopes of winning the European Cup are firmly in their hands and every Czech fan will certainly hope to see more domestic names in the Conference League next season.
