Al-Nassr played their third game of the league season on Friday night and notched their first win. Cristiano Ronaldo and Sadio Mané shone in particular in the match, scoring five goals in the opponent’s net.
Before the start of the new Saudi Arabian league season, Al-Nassr managed to dominate the Arab Club Championship, with Cristiano Ronaldo being the top scorer of the competition. But the successful campaign in this cup could not be followed up at the start of the league.
Al-Nassr lost its first two league games and that may be a disappointment at the end of the season. Ronaldo did not play in the first game, but in the second one he did and came up empty on goal.
He managed to break the scoring silence in the third league match at Al-Fateh, in which he became more or less the hero of his team along with Sadio Mane.
Al-Nassr managed to beat Al-Fateh 5-0 and Ronaldo scored three goals. Twice he got the ball practically presented in front of an empty goal, once he hit a header.
Ronaldo’s finest moment in the match was his pass to Mané in the 27th minute. He sent the ball behind the opponent’s defence with a great pass and the former Bayern and Liverpool player made no mistake in his big chance.
It was Mané who scored the other two goals for Al-Nassr, sharing the goal tally with Ronal. However, after the match, the opponents’ coach Slaven Bilic praised primarily Marcel Brozovic, his compatriot, who he said set the pace of the game brilliantly in midfield and was one of the decisive elements in the match.
Al-Nassr, however, has a lot of catching up to do. He is six points behind the table leaders after three rounds. Al-Ittihad and Al-Ahli hold first and second place with the same nine points.
