Cristiano Ronaldo has finally gotten his game under control and it was confirmed in Saturday’s game when Al-Nassr travelled to Damac. The favourite was obvious and the first half was proof as the Portuguese netted a hat-trick.
Al-Nassr were given a unique opportunity to fight their way to the top of the Saudi Arabian league after Al-Ittihad failed to register three points in their match against Al-Read’s side earlier in the week.
Then on Saturday afternoon, Cristiano Ronaldo and co. hosted Damac, the seventh team in the Saudi Professional League, and the favourite was clear. Al-Nassr needed a win to move to the top of the competition. And he was going for the win right from the start of the game.
In the 18th minute, it was Ronaldo who scored the first goal of the game, converting a penalty kick. But that was just the beginning of his one-man show.
He added another goal in the 23rd minute, after a pass from a teammate, he promptly worked the ball on the run and uncompromisingly sent the ball into the net with his weak left foot. The goalkeeper was not expecting anything like that and stood still.
Ronaldo added a third goal late in the first act. However, the main contribution was made by his two teammates, who launched a fantastic break, at the end of which the Portuguese had it relatively easy.
This is the second time in the last three games that Ronaldo has scored at least three goals. He assisted twice in the last game, and a week earlier he scored four times in the Al-Wehda net.
Overall, the Portuguese now has eight goals and two assists in six competitive matches.
