Liverpool faced an opponent that was far from their quality in the fourth round of the Premier League, AFC Bournemouth. The Reds literally played with this team like a cat and mouse, when they blasted the seventeenth team of the English top competition with a 9:0 ratio!
The English Premier League offered seven matches on Saturday 27th August, the most attractive of which was the duel between Liverpool and Bournemouth.
The home side scored the first goal in the third minute when Luis Díaz pounced on a centre from Roberto Firmino and headed the ball into the bottom right corner of the opponent’s goal.
The second goal was added by the home team after just three minutes. Harvey Ellliott got to the ball and shot into the bottom left corner of the net to increase Liverpool’s lead to 2:0. The fans then had to wait 22 minutes for another accurate shot.
And at the end of the 15th minute Mohamed Salah burned a huge chance, whose close range shot into the open goal of Travers goalkeeper was not successful.
The fans saw their third goal in the 28th minute, when Trent Alexander-Arnold made a football parade. The twenty-three year old right-back sent an uncatchable projectl at the Bournemouth goal. Beautiful.
An absolutely superb performance from Brazilian Firmino, who scored a goal and three assists in the first half alone. It was Firmino who increased Liverpool’s lead to 4-0 in the 31st minute. The Reds striker had a hand in all four goals.
But to make matters worse, the English giant added another goal at the end of the first half. Andrew Roberston’s centre from a corner kick found Virgil van Dijk in the penalty area and his header made it 5:0.
Bournemouth’s disgraceful performance then continued in the second act, with Chris Mepham scoring an own goal almost immediately after the second half started.
A goal machine by the name of Firmino netted Liverpool’s seventh goal in the 62nd minute, with this goal he reached the 100 goal mark in a Reds jersey.
Liverpool increased to 8: 0 after a beautiful action, which was finished by Fábio Carvalho in the 80th minute.
And Díaz made the final 9:0. After four matches Liverpool has five points and a positive score of 13::5. After this performance, it seems incredible that Jürgen Klopp’s charges achieved their first victory in the fourth round of the Premier League.
