After his spree during the national break, he shone in the league game as well
Aged like wine. This season, he shows again that age is just a number. Even at 38 years old, he never loses his appetite for scoring goals and football fans are amazed. In Saturday’s league match he scored a wonderful goal from a free kick, which also decided another victory for his club.
It was his fifth game in the last nineteen days, but the fatigue is definitely not showing. On the contrary. He seems to be getting hungrier with each passing game for another goal.
After returning from the national break, during which he executed Slovakia with four goals against Bosnia-Herzegovina, he became the central figure in Al-Nassr’s next league encounter. The latter welcomed FC Damac in the tenth round of the Saudi Pro League and it was another footballing extravaganza.
Cristiano Ronaldo made the difference in Al-Nassr’s victory with a wonderful direct hit
However, the Riyadh team’s victory was certainly not easy to come by. Although Ronaldo enjoyed a goal in the fifth minute, the referee disallowed the goal due to offside.
Surprisingly, the visiting team was the more dangerous team during the first 45 minutes. In stoppage time, N’Koudou sent the visitors into the lead with a beautiful pass from Nicolae Stanciu.
After the change of sides, however, a completely different team came out in the blue and yellow jersey. Cristiano Ronaldo scored again after just four minutes, but again the goal was disallowed for offside.
The home side did not celebrate until the 51st minute when Ronaldo signalled a run on a free-kick, but Talisca surprisingly got on the end of the ball to level the match. The Brazilian then could have sent Al Nassr into the lead just two minutes later, but he only sent the ball into the crossbar with his head.
The fate of the match was decided by none other than the star Portuguese. In the 56th minute, he stood alone for a free kick and gave a reminder of the good old days. Although the ball was set up more for a left-footed player, Ronaldo hit the ball so perfectly that he left the goalkeeper as a spectator. A wonderful footballing moment.
With the scoreline unchanged by the final whistle, Al-Nassr claimed another important victory in the battle for the Saudi Pro League lead. For Ronaldo, it was his eleventh league goal in nine games, in which he added five assists. Incredible numbers for the 38-year-old living legend!
