VIDEO: Ducár fought until the last second, but he didn’t win the European boxing title. He was saved by the end of the last round
Vasil Ducár, the best boxer from the Czech Republic, took part in the IBF European cruiserweight title fight on Saturday night. His opponent was undefeated Jordan Thompson, who scored another victory.
Vasil Ducar has had a tough week. On Monday his wife gave birth, he headed straight from the hospital to training and on Wednesday he travelled to England, where another tough fight awaited him on Saturday night.
In Sheffield, England, the best boxer from the Czech Republic fought for the IBF European cruiserweight title. Against him stood Jordan Thompson, who went into the fight with a great record of 13 wins.
Thompson won 11 of his 13 fights early. So there was no doubt about his qualities. It was a big challenge for Ducard. But he was not afraid of it and although he went into the fight as an underdog, he has nothing to be ashamed of.
The native of Moravia stuck with Thompson until the end. Moreover, in the last round the English boxer had his work cut out for him to finish the fight. Ducar dismantled his opponent and sent him to the ground.
Thompson was saved by the bell, which meant the end of the fight. If it hadn’t been for him, the fight might have turned out differently. But in the end, Thompson won by scores of 97 to 92, 96 to 93 and 96 to 3. He won his first title.
