Cristiano Ronaldo is thoroughly enjoying the new season so far, at least in terms of individual statistics. He managed to add two more goals in yesterday’s game and made a significant contribution to the important win for Al-Nassr.
Cristiano Ronaldo showing great form in the new season
Al-Nassr has started the new season in style. The arrival of the star reinforcements went well and the team managed to snatch the Arab Champions Cup. But then things started to get complicated.
The start of the league competition didn’t go at all as expected. The team couldn’t cope with the absence of star Cristiano Ronaldo in the league debut and after two rounds, they were in the bottom tiers of the Saudi Pro League with two losses.
However, a home win in the Asian Champions League gave a kick-start to the team led by Portuguese strategist Luis Castro. In the third league round, Al Fateh downed the team with five goals and it was Cristiano who flashed a hat-trick in the match.
He has shown great shooting form so far this season and was looking to add more numbers to his stats in yesterday’s home game in the fourth round of the top Arab competition. In that one, Al-Nassr welcomed Al Shabab, who also occupy the bottom tiers of the table, to their stadium.
In yesterday’s league match with Al Shabab, he scored two goals and added an assist
And it has to be said that the Portuguese cannonballer’s star shone again. He opened the scoring in the 13th minute when he converted a penalty kick after a handball in the opponents’ penalty area. A few minutes passed and Cristiano was happy for the second time. However, the header was disallowed due to a minor push.
But he made up for it before the end of the first act. In the 38th minute, he converted a second penalty attempt after a foul on him and after just two minutes, the home fans celebrated for the third time. Cristiano crossed the ball to Mané from the first and the Senegalese striker sent Al-Nassr into a three-goal lead.
Al-Nassr continued to be on the offensive after the change of sides. In the 63rd minute, the third penalty kick of the night was played after another hand in the whitewash. This time, however, 26-year-old midfielder Abdulrahman Ghareeb took the ball and only hit the bar.
Twelve minutes before the end of regulation time, Al Shabab’s biggest star Ever Banega then made the path to victory even easier for a nasty knee tackle. Shortly afterwards, Cristiano could have completed his hat-trick, but his header only hit the bar. However, the deflected ball was cleared into the net by Sultan Al Ghannam to close the match to a final score of 4:0.
Cristiano scored two more goals and an assist to become the man of the match. He scored an incredible eleven goals in ten competitive matches, adding three assists. In the video below you can see a clip of his amazing performance.
