VIDEO: Ángel Correa celebrated his goal in his jacket on the bench because of VAR. But after the game he had no reason to be happy

VAR offers all sorts of strange situations that we have not had the chance to witness before. Now Ángel Correa has found out about it, as he scored a regular goal against Getafe, after which he was substituted. And by the time VAR gave the green light for this goal, the Argentine winger was already sitting on the bench in his jacket.

The Rosario native, who recently celebrated his World Cup debut in Qatar, has enjoyed a four-goal haul so far this league season. In total, he has collected 65 in 357 games for Atlético Madrid. However, he celebrated his 65th goal in a rather unconventional way.

As we have already mentioned above, according to Transfermarkt, the most valuable player of the Madrid team, after a corner kick was deflected by the opponent’s defence, he managed to pull back perfectly, because of which he was not offside, and reacted best to the deflected ball, which he sent uncompromisingly into the goal.

However, the linesman saw it differently and immediately after the goal was scored he raised the flag upwards. However, after the video referee reviewed the whole situation, the goal was conceded.

Before the whole situation was resolved, Diego Simeone decided to withdraw Correa, who was replaced by Yannick Carrasco, and Thomas Lemar, who was replaced by Marcos Llorente.

The Argentine striker went to get his jacket and sat on the bench alongside his teammates. Shortly afterwards, however, he celebrated the goal that VAR eventually awarded him.

However, it was not enough to win the game as Enes Ünal scored from the penalty spot in the 83rd minute to level the match at 1-1. Atlético Madrid thus drew 1-1 after two wins and increased their lead to four points over fifth-placed Villarreal, who lost to Elche on Saturday.

Getafe, on the other hand, finally got a point after 4 losses in a row and are now only 2 points behind the 17th place Real Valladolid.
