Very expensive interview! Chelsea fined Lukaku half a million euros

Honesty is highly valued among footballers, nobody wants to hear clichés repeated over and over again. Of course, a player should consider when it’s appropriate and when it’s not. Romelu Lukaku directed his words against Chelsea, his current employer, and was fined heavily.

Honesty is highly valued among footballers, nobody wants to hear repetitive and unspeakable clichés. Of course, a player should consider when it’s appropriate and when it’s not. Romelu Lukaku directed his words against Chelsea, his current employer, and was fined heavily.

Lukaku has been at Chelsea once before, but his engagement in London was not a happy one. So he left for Everton, from where he moved to Manchester United and then to Inter Milan. His great performances earned him a second chance from Chelsea, who were not reluctant to pay £100 million for the power forward.

However, Lukaku has not yet started to repay that sum. Although he has scored 5 goals in the league, his performances have faltered and there are even voices that Chelsea are playing better without him than with him. The Belgian striker made things even more difficult for himself with an interview he gave to Sky Sports Italia.

A transcript of the full interview would be for a separate article, but in short, Lukaku criticised Tuchel’s system, which he believes he doesn’t fit into. He also stated that the biggest clubs in the world are Real Madrid, Barcelona and Bayern, and that he was waiting for an offer from these big clubs, but when it didn’t come, he took Chelsea.

Last but not least, he said that he regrets leaving Inter Milan and hopes to return to Italy one day, not as a veteran to finish his career, but at the peak of his powers to help Inter win more trophies. Considering that Lukaku is 28 years old and only joined Chelsea six months ago for £100 million, the Blues management and fans were incredibly taken aback by his words.

The first penalty didn’t take long to come. Coach Tomas Tuchel did not include Lukaku in the nomination for the crucial game against Liverpool, so he watched the 2-2 draw only from the stands. And another sanction is already on the way, Chelsea has given the Belgian striker a financial sanction after Tuchel’s conversation with Lukaku.

According to Italian newspaper Repubblica, Lukaku will pay a fine of €500,000, roughly 12.5 million crowns. So he’s going to take a big bender for his words.
