UEFA has been paying a lot of attention to Czech teams lately. On its Twitter account, it recently sparked a heated discussion on the topic – “Choose one Czech team (Sparta or Slavia)”. This time, however, she shared several moments on Twitter of the European Conference League, featuring the Sešiv team. What were they?

The Slavs entered the group stage of the Conference Europa League as the championship team. To put it better, they fell into Europe’s weakest competition through the unsuccessful qualifying rounds of the Champions League and then the Europa League.

It was a big setback for Slavia at the beginning of the season because the pre-season expectations were clear – Champions League! Anyway, in the EKL group they faced really strong opponents, together with Feyenoord, Union Berlin and Maccabi Haifa they formed an imaginary group of death.

Slavia finally managed to get through the difficult group to the spring part of the competition, where they will face Fenerbahce. The Istanbul team also includes Czech international Filip Novak and star Mesut Özil.

The chances of qualification are at least equal, and the Sešiovans can emulate their previous successful European runs and leave a Czech footprint in Europe once again. Sparta Prague, who are facing Partizan Belgrade, can still help them do so.

Mandous’ intervention and Schranz’s bomb

Anyway, on to the topic at hand. Yesterday on EKL channel there were two positive moments for Slavs.

The first one was a good save by Ales Mandous, who made a great left-footed save and prevented a clear goal for Feyenoord!

The second moment is basically the advancing goal of Ivan Schranz in Berlin. Daniel Samek forced a risky pass from the Union midfielder, which was intercepted by the Slovakian international and the rest is history. It was a beautiful goal!
