UEFA has decided to make a change that will once again allow more fans in football stadiums. In fact, it has launched a trial programme that will allow standing room only. This was in response to growing interest from clubs.
The Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) has decided to launch a programme that will allow standing room at football stadiums. Their ban came about thirty years ago.
That’s when the tragedy at Hillsborough happened, where nearly a hundred fans died. A pilot project will be launched this season, but we won’t see it everywhere.
Standing places will be allowed in three countries, namely England, France and Germany. This is because that is where standing places are allowed in club competitions.
This trend is gradually increasing, as is the case in the Czech league, where a certain number are already allowed. However, clubs playing in European competitions have not introduced these seats.
This is because they have been banned so far, and so it is to be expected that boiler seats will be removed once the full rollout is underway. This will also allow the capacity of the stadium to increase slightly.
However, it is still uncertain whether the programme will be successful. The testing will take into account the safety of the fans in particular. The analysis will be carried out by independent experts and a decision will then be made at the end of the season as to whether the programme will be extended.
