UEFA fights against hosting the World Cup every two years. She is not alone in fighting FIFA’s plans

Holding a World Cup every two years? This is exactly the idea that is appearing more and more often in the world’s football media.
FIFA, the International Federation of Association Football, is also a supporter of this plan. But not everyone agrees with it.
UEFA in particular is opposed to the idea, with its president Aleksander Čeferin strongly objecting.
“It would damage all forms of football and devalue the tournament itself,” Čeferin is clear.
Furthermore, he revealed that UEFA is not alone in the fight. CONMEBOL has the same attitude towards the idea of hosting the World Cup every two years.
“We will fight it as long as we have common sense. UEFA and CONMEBOL will block these plans even if FIFA gets the support of the majority of football associations,” Čeferin said in an interview with Reuters.
The UEFA boss is aware of how much of a hardship it would be for players to have to play a month-long national tournament every summer. The World Cup would alternate with the Euros.
“The value of the World Cup lies precisely in the fact that it is every four years. You wait for it like the Olympics, it’s a big event. If that changes, we can opt for a boycott,” added the head of the Union of European Football Associations.
