The Czech midfielder is preparing for the opening match of Euro 2020 (played in 2021). Against our team will face the unpleasant Scots, whom we have something to return. In the meantime, however, vice-captain and footballing gentleman Tomas Soucek has faced a great deal of adversity!

It was nothing more than racism, which is simply the number one issue in the British Isles. Tomas Soucek defended his teammate Ondrej Kudela, saying that he had been convicted of something that had not been proven and UEFA had handed him a 10-match ban.

He spoke to the Czech media about the issues of racism in British society some more and pointed out the big differences in the perception of this issue between Western and our society.

The British media, of course, only picked up the “interesting” information and portrayed Soucek as a racist. The West Ham player decisively stopped the online hatred of his person with a tweet explaining the situation to the British people.

Reaction to Tomáš Souček’s tweet

“I am against racism in any form and proud to play a sport that is so diverse and inclusive,” was the last sentence of Soucek’s tweet. Before that, he explained to his fans that some parts of the text translated into the British version were misunderstood.

The footballing elegance and gentleman found overwhelming support from Hammers fans, but he was also supported by Czechs.

“Nice guy Soucek simply says he believes his friend Kudel, that he is not a racist and that his penalty was without evidence. And he’s already getting lynched online and has to half apologize for not being a racist. Horrible,” wrote Tomáš Jirsa.

“We are with you, Tomas. Ignore the British loony media,” wrote one of West Ham’s biggest fan sites.

“Tomas, normal people get it. Unfortunately we live in a society where idiots who are offended by their own shadow want to destroy absolutely everything! Concentrate on having a great Euro with your country. Can’t wait to see you next season,” wrote a West Ham fan.
