Today’s showcase: a championship without beer, nothing for the Czech fan
Much restricted access to the drink of the men – beer – will be at the World Cup matches in Qatar. Czech fans needn’t worry too much, the Czech team didn’t qualify for the championship. Viktoria Plzeň is strengthening its management. Petr Čech must not work in football. Ronaldo didn’t even go to training camp with Manchester United.

Beer only for children
The organisers of this year’s World Cup, hosted by Qatar at the end of autumn, are dealing with very crucial questions – whether beer will be allowed to be sold and of what quality. Alcohol is banned in Muslim countries and even the world’s biggest football festival will not soften Allah.
In the end, a solution was found, anti-prohibition booths and otherwise non-alcoholic, i.e. children’s beer. For the Czech fan at least some relief that the team of coach Jaroslav Šilhavy did not fight for the championship. Soccer without beer, at least ten-degree beer, is no great pleasure.
The champion strengthens in management
The defending champion Viktoria Plzeň is also strengthening its staff, this time in terms of officials. Daniel Kolář, a former successful player who helped win five titles, has taken the seat of sports manager.
He already has experience of working in the office, having moved up from the position of youth sports director. The Plzeň club is also bringing up its officials.
Čech must not work in football
Goalkeeping legend Petr Čech’s managerial contract at English club Chelsea FC has come to an end, bringing to an end a long association that began on the pitch with conquering historic trophies and breaking records and then moved to the office.
It contained an addendum that after its end the Pilsen native must not work in football for some time. The club’s new owners, a group of American investors who have been involved in basketball and baseball, are obviously very worried that the Czech international will not pass on his experience in his native country.
Ronaldo didn’t go to training camp
The disputes leading to a split between Cristiano Ronaldo and English big club Manchester United continue, the Portuguese player did not even go to training camp with his employer. Assurances from the management that nothing is wrong and it does not mean the star’s departure are becoming less and less believable.
For years, Ronaldo has served as an example to all footballers. Now he has given another instruction.
