Tipsport liga: We are not scoring goals, Bohemians midfielder Jan Kovařík praises
Two games, two wins. And especially with zero in the back. Bohemians Prague are doing very well in the Tipsport Liga winter tournament. “The main thing is to carry these habits into the tough league matches and not score so many goals,” midfielder Jan Kovařík believes in improved performance.
Every match is, and especially in such a tournament. It is better for everyone to play football than just run around. I’ll take it.
You ended the fall disastrously, four defeats with a score of 3:15. That’s a tough way to go into winter training.
It all comes down to our position. If we were in seventh place and had more points, the mood would be very different. But we’d still have to work hard. If we improve defensively and don’t score so many goals, we’ll go up the table.
I’ve always followed the results, even though I didn’t play in previous clubs. In Počernice I also trained in the youth categories of Slavia, it is a familiar ground for me and I always like to come back here.
Two wins means you are on course to participate in the Malta Cup next year, which is the usual prize for the overall winner of the tournament. Have you discussed this in the booth?
We haven’t discussed it yet. We try to score as few goals as possible in every game, not to give our opponents chances. And then carry those habits into the tough league games.
You beat Sparta B 2-0, Dukla 1-0. Did the games have a derby feel?
It was a derby. We are happy that we won both of them and even with a zero, which is a huge plus. But there is room for improvement up front.
