It was a match with everything! Slavia finally knocked out Bohemians Praha 1905 in the MOL Cup semi-final match in extra time, but the Kangaroos were very close to advancing. However, Ondřej Lingr, who was highly praised by Jaroslav Köstl after the match, scored in stoppage time of the second half to tie the game.

The MOL Cup semi-final duel between Slavia and Bohemians had everything. A great atmosphere, beautiful football actions and personal duels on the pitch, and there was also an infarct ending.

It is no wonder that Jaroslav Köstl, assistant coach of Jindřich Trpišovský, described this match as an advertisement for football. The goal account of the match was opened in the 14th minute by Erik Prekop, who got through with a shot from the right side and sent the ball to the left post.

David Douděra equalised in the 23rd minute. Ivan Schranz directed the ball to him after a sharp centre, and from a volley in front of the goal he sent the ball into the net.

Jindřich Trpišovský’s charges then gradually tightened the screws in the rest of the first half, but the fans in Eden did not see any more goals, even though the referee set five extra minutes.

During the second half, the Sevilla team created several scoring opportunities, but not a single goal was scored. The score did not change until the 87th minute, when the visiting Martin Hála saw offside and capitalised on a great centre by captain Josef Jindřiška.

Slavia understandably squeezed their opponents at the end of the match and created several chances. However, it was the 97th minute that ended in a goal. Douděra sent a fluffy centre into the small area, which Ondřej Lingr jumped on and literally saved Slavia in the cup.

The match went into extra time, in which the home team was more successful. Václav Jurečka got behind the Bohemka defence in the 110th minute and scored the decisive goal of the semi-final duel. In the final of the MOL Cup, the fans of Czech football will see the Prague “S” derby.

Köstl on Lingr…

“He is a similar player to Peter Olayinka, he will do everything for the team. He has a great mentality, he is a gamechanger, he can win a game for himself and pour energy into the team’s veins. He’s a great guy and a player you want to have on your side and not against you,” Köstl said about Lingr at the post-game press conference.
