Thomas Müller criticizes Germany’s tactics at the Euros by Joachim Löw
Not much was expected from Germany at the Euros. On paper they had a strong team, but the results before the championship did not match it. In the tournament, Joachim Löw’s charges were lucky to reach the eight finals, where they were eliminated. Thomas Müller was not happy with that.

Four games, one win, one draw, two losses. That’s Germany’s record at the European Championships. With great luck, Joachim Löw’s charges made it through to the eighth round, but fell short against England.
Their only win came against Portugal, whom they beat 4: 2, but otherwise they were unable to beat the Hungarians (3: 3). Thomas Müller, who has criticised his team’s tactics in retrospect, then started all the matches at the Euros.
Müller is one of the born leaders, a straightforward leader who is not afraid to express his opinion, no matter how (un)popular.
He was angry with himself after Germany’s exit when he blew a chance in the England game that could have changed the course of the match, but he doesn’t like the tactics either.
It should be mentioned that there were already protests about the German team’s tactics before the championship. Müller only confirmed it now.
And what did he not like? “We failed. We tried too hard to keep a clean sheet, we played too hesitantly and the compact defensive tactics didn’t work,” Müller is clear.
According to Müller, big matches are decided by who scores the first goal, which is not exactly easy to do with defensive tactics, and Germany should have paid the price in the match against England.
But now a new era awaits Germany, new coach Hansi Flick certainly has interesting players at his disposal with whom he can achieve interesting results.
