Éstádio do Dragao hosted Portugal’s Euro 2024 qualifier against Slovakia on Friday night. The Iberian side were the favourites and it was clear from the start of the game.
Cristiano Ronaldo was one of the main figures of the match, scoring two goals. However, Goncalo Ramos opened the scoring in the 18th minute. The Al-Nassr star made his first appearance in the statistics in the 29th minute after converting a penalty.
However, Dávid Hancko reduced the match score in the 69th minute. However, Ronaldo scored the winning goal three minutes later when Bruno Fernandes presented the ball to him in front of an uncovered goal. The match ended 3-2, with Stanislav Lobotka scoring the last goal.
The holder of five Ballon d’Or was therefore in good spirits and after the match he revealed the big goal he is striving to achieve. He has a tough job ahead of him.
Ronaldo wants to score 1,000 goals
At the beginning of September, Cristiano Ronaldo celebrated the 850th anniversary goal. With two goals in Slovakia, he has now reached 125 national goals and 857 competitive goals. An incredible feat at 38 years old.
But he’s certainly not quitting. On the contrary. He has made a bet with the president of Portuguese club FC Porto, Jorge Nuno Pinto, to score the magic 100 goals.
“It will be quite difficult, but it’s about my mind-set and my motivation. If my legs treat me as well physically as I treat them… We’ll see, it’s baby steps,” Goal quoted the Portuguese star as saying.
“If you want to get to 1,000 goals, you have to get to 900 first. I think I can do that,” Ronaldo added.
The Real Madrid or Manchester United legend has reportedly expressed his desire to sign a contract with Al-Nasser until 2027. He also intends to be not only at the next European Championship, but also at the World Cup, which will be held in 2026.
