By the end of the season, Chelsea are to be newly led by Frank Lampard with assistants John Terry and Ashley Cole, all former Blues greats. But then someone else is to come in to guarantee a longer-term project.
According to Miguel Delayne of The Independent, Chelsea are to consider bringing in Italian troublemaker Antonio Conte, who was sidelined by Tottenham Hotspur a few days ago, to the bench in the summer.
Not entirely satisfactory results could have been the culprit, but also disagreements between Conte and the management. This, by the way, is something that has been repeated very often in his career.
It was similar earlier at Juventus Turin, Inter Milan or just at Chelsea.
Here Conte coached in 2016-2018, with the Blues in his very first season he managed to win the league title. However, his end was rather bitter, the manager did not leave in a very good atmosphere.
Still, Chelsea are now considering Conte’s re-engagement and there has even been initial contact between the two parties.
In any case, he is an extremely high quality coach who has enjoyed success pretty much everywhere he has gone, if the management has gone out of their way to bring in players that fit his very specific style of play.
