Excellent news! The tennis tournament in Ostrava will be held, the OKTAGON 17 gala evening in Brno too. We are just waiting for the green light for the Europa League matches.
There is a ban on all sporting events in the Czech Republic, but there have been three requests for exemptions. Two have already been granted, the third is pending.
First of all, tennis can rejoice, as the WTA tournament in Ostrava has been given the green light by the chief sanitary officer, Jarmila Rážová. It is scheduled to start on Monday.
Ondřej Novotný can rejoice in the second row, along with all combat sports fans. Although the owner and promoter of the Oktagon organization was prepared for all scenarios, he will definitely not grumble about the exception and approval of the tournament in Brno.
However, if it didn’t work out, he addressed the possibility of moving the Oktagon 17 gala to Austria or Slovakia. The tournament will take place on Saturday.
So we are waiting for the last good news. The green light should soon be given to the football clubs, who have home games in the Europa League next week. These are Sparta Prague and Slovan Liberec.
At least that is what Jakub Večerka, spokesman of the National Sports Agency (NSA), claims. Let’s hope that his words will be confirmed!
