The autumn programme of the national football team is beginning to take shape. In November, coach Jaroslav Šilhavy’s charges will play two friendlies, including a trip to Moravia.
On Wednesday, 16 November, a duel with the Faroe Islands will take place in Olomouc. The Czech team has already played them six times and always managed to win without scoring once. The last time it happened was in 1999.
The national team will play in Haná after one year. In November 2020, the Andras Stadium hosted a match against Kuwait and the fans watched the 7:0 win. The Moravian fans will not see a very attractive opponent again.
“I think the place is easy. If we have the opportunity, we try to direct some matches to Moravia. TheMoravian fans deserve it,” ČT Sport quotes Petr Fousek, the president of the FAČR, as saying.
Fousek noted, among other things, that coach Šilhavý himself wanted to play against a not-so-strong opponent, but also pointed out that the range of opponents is not the widest due to the centralisation of friendlies within UEFA.
Three days later the national team should play Turkey on Turkish soil. “But that negotiation is still ongoing,” Fousek said.
It’s worth noting that Turkey have managed to win four of their last six inter-team matches. The last meeting of forces took place at Euro 2016.
Before those friendlies, however, Šilhavy’s selection will test Portugal in the Nations League on 24 September in Eden, Prague, and three days after that they will play Switzerland.
