The fall of Calvert-Lewin. The Everton forward has the worst offensive numbers in the five elite leagues. Fans complain and want more

It wasn’t until Unaie Emery’s 97th Premier League game that a goalless draw was born. If it was ever to come, it was probably against defensive mastermind Sean Breathe. Everton played Aston Villa 0-0, but the game was certainly not boring.

It wasn’t until Unaie Emery’s 97th Premier League game that a goalless draw was born. If it was ever to come, it was probably against defensive mastermind Sean Breathe. Everton played Aston Villa 0-0, but the game was certainly not boring.

That Aston Villa are a completely different team at home and away was not so apparent this time. Unaie Emery’s charges had pressure and chances, but it didn’t work in the end. The Spanish coach drew 0:0 for the first time in his tenure in the English top flight.

They are not kicking out the cannonballer

Although Aston Villa were the more dangerous side, Everton could have taken the three points. However, like so many times this season, they paid the price for their productivity, or rather the poor form of Dominic Calvert-Lewin. The offensive number one may have been defended by coach Dyche, but the numbers speak clearly.

The former England international is currently over 16 hours in the Premier League without scoring a goal. He is even the least productive player ever in the top five European competitions, scoring 4.58 goals less than he should have according to the xG (expected goals) stats.

While Calvert-Lewin is not the only option in attack, summer purchase from Serie A Beto has not caught on yet. And if it’s controversial between these players in the slightest, Lewin’s past will still win out. After all, he was a national team player who was heavily pursued by the likes of Arsenal.

“Time and time again we go without three points just because we don’t have a striker,” wrote Bruno Arantes in a liked comment on Everton’s Instagram. And the rest of the fans’ opinions revolved primarily around him and also, on the contrary, the great Vitaly Mykolenko.

No relegation panic in Everton

Although Everton are only a point above the relegation zone due to the deduction of ten points for financial fair play violations, fans and players alike seem calm. The results in December may not have been the best, but the winning transition of November and December suggested that the Toffees belong in the league.

The defence is working under Dyche, plus mainstay Abdoulaye Doucoure returns from injury. It was in his absence that Everton lost, and he played on Sunday. “We take a point and move on. I love this club, the fight for each other and the logo on the jersey,” wrote Man Dont Care.
