Real Madrid had the right side of the defence covered perfectly for many years, with Daniel Carvajal providing consistently excellent service. However, the Spanish full-back is now 32 years old and it is time for the club to look for a successor. That could be Trent Alexander-Arnold, who has grown into one of the best players in his position at Liverpool under Jürgen Klopp.

The right edge of Real Madrid’s defence

Carvajal has taken the field in a Los Blancos jersey on 406 occasions, scoring 12 goals and assisting on 63 more. He has won the Champions League 5 times and La Liga 3 times with the club of his heart. However, in January this year he celebrated his 32nd birthday and as it is the case at Real Madrid, the time of his departure is approaching.

Carlo Ancelotti had as an alternative at right-back Lucas Vázquez, who also flies tirelessly down the right side of the pitch. Sometimes in attack, sometimes in defence. But he too will celebrate his 33rd birthday in July. So it’s clear that things will move.

The end of an era, will Trent Alexander-Arnold move on?

When Klopp came to Liverpool, everyone was wondering how far he could take the Reds. It has to be said that he certainly didn’t disappoint. And his charges brought a number of major trophies to Anfield, including Premier League and Champions League titles.

At all the big moments was the club’s offspring Alexander-Arnold, who has grown into one of the best edge backs in the world under the German coach. At one point he was undoubtedly the best. And although there was a slight dip in form after that, at 25 he still has his best years ahead of him.

In translation, he is the ideal candidate for Real Madrid. This has already been mentioned by Fabrizio Romano, who published a post highlighting the Spanish club’s possible interest. However, Liverpool will definitely not be willing to let go of their star just like that.

However, the English full-back’s contract expires next year and so discussions about an extension are sure to get underway. How everything turns out will certainly depend on who comes to Anfield in the summer as a successor to the highly successful German coach.

Meanwhile, most experts expect a slight retreat from glory for Liverpool. This is certainly not surprising,. As Klopp, along with Pep Guardiola and several other coaches, is the absolute top of his field.

Moreover, the fact that Jude Bellingham is doing well at Madrid could also be a contributing factor to this transfer. In addition, Kylian Mbappé is set to strengthen the team in the summer. If the Los Blancos were to snap up Alexander-Arnold, he would be a really tough opponent for the other big clubs.
