The end of happy rescues? Everton face a serious problem, threatened with points deduction

Although Everton are still hovering over the Premier League relegation precipice, that might not be the case this season. Indeed, the Toffees have fallen into a staggering financial deficit over the last three years, as much as £372 million, for which they face a hefty penalty.
The recent placement
You could say that since Carlo Ancelloti left the Everton address back to Real Madrid, everything has been going downhill with the club. Under the Italian strategist, the club has been successful in bringing in often above-standard players. The arrival of James Rodriguez to a club like Everton was certainly not expected.
A more important indicator than just the arrival of big players was the position in the table. Ancelotti was able to get the best out of the team on a regular basis, often resulting in finishes just below the places guaranteeing European cups. More or less the club was quietly in the middle of the table.
The problem only came with Ancelotti’s departure. As he did at Real Madrid in 2015, the Italian was replaced at Everton by Rafael Benítez. The Spaniard, as we know, doesn’t prefer players like James, so he packed up straight away, nor did he like the club’s long-term stalwart Lucas Digne, who left for rival Aston Villa. So there was a slight turnover at the club.
What did this turnover bring? Yes, nothing at all. The club was saved by just 4 points and Benítez was sacked as it was a staggering drop down the table since last season. If it wasn’t for Richarlison, who scored 10 goals and added 5 assists then, the team would probably have been relegated.
Frank Lampard arrived as coach in the summer of 2022. Everton lost Richarlison during the summer transfer window and that seems to be a key loss. No one has been able to replace the Brazilian in scoring goals. Lampard was recalled in January as the club was at the bottom of the table. In the end, all went well and Everton saved themselves by a single point.
This season and sanctions
So far this season Everton have 7 points to their name. Unfortunately, mainly due to the stadium redevelopment and the associated investments, the club has been in a huge deficit over the last 3 years. The loss amounts to £372 million. Of course, this does not leave the management of the competition calm and the situation is starting to move.
According to The Telegraph, the club is facing a deduction of 12 points, which could be crucial. It would be tremendously difficult to get out of this situation and save the Premier League. However, at the moment Everton would be in a points deficit.
The clarity should be clear in the next few days, if the independent panel decide to deduct points from the club, it will be an uphill struggle for the whole club until the end of the season.
