Edin Džeko was a player of AS Roma for 5 years, during which time he managed to make a significant mark in the club’s history. In the summer, however, this episode of his career came to an end when he joined Inter Milan. In his jersey, he has had a very successful engagement so far.

Teplice must be proud to have discovered the talent hidden in the Bosnian striker. Edin Džeko will probably go down in football history as one of the best strikers.

He has scored goals at Wolfsburg, Manchester City and AS Roma, and is now improving his stats at Inter Milan.

At Roma, Džeko became a very important figure, he was captain and in five years he became the third top scorer in the club’s history. In 260 competitive matches he scored 119 goals and added 55 assists.

Last season, however, it was not only Rome that struggled, but also Džeko himself. There was talk of disputes in the cabin, the Bosnian star was said to have problems with the team management. In addition, there was speculation as to whether his not-so-good numbers were due to his advanced age.

After all, in March the Inter player celebrated his 35th birthday and last season was his second worst since his arrival in Italy, scoring 15 goals in 38 competitive matches. Only his debut season on the Apennine Peninsula was worse.

Then it came as a surprise when the Serie A champions acquired him in the summer. After all, it was the duo of Romelu Lukaku and Lautaro Martinez who shone in the Nerazzurri attack. Lukaku is renowned for his movement, dynamism, speed, strength. He is simply a complex striker.

However, despite this, Džeko was chosen to replace the departing Belgian marksman. And that his arrival is proving to be a disappointment is certainly not the case. On the contrary. For now, he is dragging Inter Milan’s offense with his goals.

He hasn’t scored in two Champions League games, but in Serie A it’s a different story. He has scored six goals in seven games and shares the top scorer’s table with Ciro Immobile. Last season in Serie A he scored 7 goals.

But Džeko is not only contributing with his goals. He wins many duels, is often fouled, creates chances for his teammates. In short, he plays very well. That is why he is the highest rated player on WhoScored with an average rating of 7.58.

Nicolo Barella (7.51) has the second best mark on the team, while Lautaro Martinez (7.21) rounds out the top three.

However, if there’s anything Džeko would welcome even more than great personal stats, it’s definitely a club trophy. He hasn’t enjoyed one since leaving Manchester City. He also came to Inter because he should have a better chance of winning the precious metal in their jersey.
