The final of the Arab Club Championship offered an interesting spectacle. The main hero was Cristiano Ronaldo. A football icon who netted two crucial goals in the match that helped the team to victory.

The first half did not offer many chances. In the 51st minute, Brazilian winger Michael opened the scoring, assisted by former Barcelona player Malcom, who headed to Saudi Arabia from Russia’s Zenit St. Petersburg for 60 million euros.

The Al-Hilal goal scorer celebrated his goal by emulating the legendary celebration of Cristiano Ronaldo, the star of the opponent. The Portuguese megastar wasn’t too happy about it, judging by the look on his face.

When the losing team’s stopper Al Amri was red-carded minutes later, things didn’t look rosy for Al-Nasser. However, a full three minutes after the red card, Ronaldo intervened and took advantage of a cross into the small area to equalise at 1-1.

The score remained unchanged until the end of regulation time and it went into extra time.

In the 98th minute, the score changed. If you think Ronaldo scored, you’re right. The Portuguese headed a shot that bounced off the crossbar and turned the game in his team’s favour.

The situation was handled by VAR for offside, the goal was not cancelled. However, there was a second red card for an Al-Nassr player on the bench. The third red in total for the yellow and blue.

In the second half of extra time, there was nothing stunning, except for the injury to Ronaldo, who had to be substituted. The game ended with Al-Nassr winning the match and Ronaldo and co. were able to celebrate their first trophy of the year.

But they didn’t have much time to celebrate. After a tough Arabian Club Championship, which was played almost overnight, the winning team has a league match on Monday. Yes, two days after the final went into extra time. The club applied to the local association for a postponement, which was denied.

So Al-Nassr must play Al-Ettifaq on Monday. Sadio Mané, Seko Fofana and others thus have to prove what kind of running form they are in after their summer training. Moreover, if they were to enter the game without their biggest star and mainstay, it would be a double blow.

Apart from scoring two goals and winning the competition, Ronaldo can celebrate another record. His headed goal also broke the previous record for the most goals scored with that part of the body.
