After a six-month break, he’s back on the field. Sébastien Haller has returned to training after a difficult autumn during which he had to undergo chemotherapy.
On Tuesday, he even played his first game in a Borussia jersey when he came on for seventeen minutes in a friendly against Fortuna Düsseldorf.
“I was really looking forward to finally putting on this jersey and playing again. I hope to play more and more games without any more breaks,” he said after the game.
Coach Edin Terzic also commented on his personality and said that he will have a new addition to the attack in the spring. “We are all proud that he took this path and that we could be there.
Hopefully his body will not react negatively to the workload and we can build on this performance,” he told the club’s website.
However, Haller still has a long way to go. At the moment, he has to get into ideal shape to compete in the demanding league that the Bundesliga undoubtedly is.
He may get another chance in the yellow and black jersey the day after tomorrow, when Borussia will challenge Basel of Switzerland. The league merry-go-round then continues on January 22 when Dortmund take on Augsburg at home.
