Barak has made a great start to his time in Serie A. In his first season at Udinese he played 34 games, scoring 7 goals and adding 4 assists. But then came health complications and the Czech midfielder stopped playing.
In the following season he played only 8 games and did not score any goals, just like in the autumn of the 2019/20 season. He thus went on loan to Lecce, where he easily started to return to a successful note and scored a 2+1 record.
Last summer he left for Verona and that was a hit and miss. Barak’s health is holding up, he started 34 games and helped his team with seven goals and three assists. He is also the first penalty taker, which only proves his status in the team and the trust of his teammates and coaches.
Thanks to his great performances, he also returned to the national team, where he gradually worked his way into the starting lineup. And this season he is on track for his best year individually.
He has scored 5 goals and added 2 assists in 13 rounds, most recently in Monday’s game against Empoli. In the 49th minute, Barak ran onto a Lazovic centre and headed it into the net from a penalty. Empoli then equalised, only for the home side to come up with one more. After an assist from Barak in the 91st minute, Tameze was able to score to give Verona a valuable three points.
In the last game before the national break, Verona drew 1-1 with Empoli, with Barak again assisting on the goal. The Czech international has thus had a hand in the Italian team’s last three competitive goals.
And how does it look in the table? Verona is currently ninth, but Serie A is very crowded. Verona is only two points behind the sixth place, which is secured by the Conference League and currently held by Lazio. Barak and co. are only three points behind fifth-placed AS Roma.
