The European Cups are slowly coming to an end. On Thursday evening we will see the first semi-final matches and there will be four Czech representatives. What awaits them in their quest for the dream trophy?
The opening Champions League semi-final matches are over and the favourites to reach the final are Manchester City and Inter Milan. Other European competitions are also being played today, and four Czech footballers are of particular interest.
In the Europa League, Adam Hložek and his Bayer Leverkusen team will be in Italy, specifically against AS Roma. On the other hand, the injured Patrik Schick will not be available until the end of the season.
Bayer reached the semi-finals through third place in the Champions League, subsequently beating Monaco, Ferencváros and Royale Union SG. If they advance to the final, they will play one of the Juventus-Sevilla pairing.
However, the European Conference League is also being played. Its final is being played in Prague’s Eden and will be contested by three Czech footballers who have been at home there in the past.
The first is midfielder Antonín Barák, who will challenge Basel with Fiorentina. They reached the semi-finals by beating Braga, Sivasspor and Lech.
In the second match, Tomáš Souček and Vladimír Coufal will be looking to qualify, the latter is currently on sick leave and will not be seen against AZ Alkmaar in the opening game.
Thanks to the first place in the group, West Ham only needed to beat Larnaca and Gent. The final match between Fiorentina and West Ham would certainly be the one that Czech, and especially Slavic, fans would like to see the most.
