Soucek: I played in Hungary after a year and a half in front of the fans, I’m looking forward to the same atmosphere in the Premier League

He will enter the new season as the Kladivar’s best player from last season. The West Ham midfielder is most looking forward to the return of the fans to the football sanctuaries before the start of the new English league season. Soucek and co. will defend with their team the 6th place from last season.
Tomas Soucek is looking forward to the new Premier League season, even with the fans in attendance. He got a taste of the fans’ support during Saturday’s dress rehearsal, when West Ham beat Atlanta 2-0. A total of 30,000 fans attended the match.
The Czech midfielder left for London in 2020 during the winter transfer window. Soucek was able to establish himself at the club and West Ham subsequently exercised an option on him, turning this engagement into a permanent transfer.
While he struggled to stay in the Premier League after arriving from Slavia, he helped the Hammers to the European Cups last season and won the club’s player of the season award. He played all 38 league games and was the team’s top scorer with ten goals.
He was subsequently successful with the Czech team at EURO 2020, where he was one of the team’s best players and was instrumental in their valuable progression to the quarter-finals. He is now ready to build on his previous successful season at West Ham.
Soucek has only had a few opportunities to play in the Premier League in front of full stadiums. And only once on home soil, after which a coronavirus pandemic hit the world and fans were barred from the stands.
“I’m not going to lie, I’m most looking forward to playing in front of the crowd this season because I’ve missed them so much. Football with them is not the same as without them,” admits Tomáš Souček in an interview for the club’s website.
“For example, I played a beautiful match at Euro 2020 in Hungary in front of 60-70 thousand fans. It was about a year and a half after I played in front of the fans. I look forward to every Premier League game with a similar atmosphere,” says the Czech international.
Soucek returned to team training about 10 days after the Czech national team was eliminated at Euro 2020. In the preparation against Atalanta, he returned to his favourite midfield position and played 60 minutes.
“I felt good. I had a short holiday in the Czech Republic. Even though I only had a two-week break, I believe I will be adequately prepared for the start of the Premier League. I am full of energy. In my country we usually have only 2 two-week rest breaks during the whole season. This break was definitely enough for me and I am looking forward to seeing my teammates again. I’m happy to be back again,” is traditionally excited Soucek.
West Ham will enter the new Premier League season this Sunday. It will welcome home Newcastle at St. James Park.
