The legendary 150th edition of golf’s major tournament, The Open, breaks into its second half after the second round. The top few players advance to the weekend program, while the rest say goodbye to the tournament. Among them is the world’s most watched man in golf, Tiger Woods. Cameron Smith was the best performer on Friday as he basks at the top of the leaderboard.

Australian player Cameron Smith is doing really well at this year’s The Open. He shot a 67 in the first round and managed to improve his performance in the second round by three more strokes. With a total score of -13, he leads by two shots.

American Cameron Young slowed down slightly from the opening round on Friday, but he can still realistically hope to win the famous trophy with a score of -11.

Viktor Hovland of Norway also had a fantastic second round. His 66 shot performance lifted him into a tie for third, helped considerably by an eagle on hole number 15.

The likes of Dustin Johnson (-9) and world No.1 Scottie Scheffler (-8) are not to be shamed either, but there is a much wider field of players who could have their sights set on the title during the final rounds.

What is clear is that Tiger Woods will not be able to win his 16th major title. After a disappointing opening round, he couldn’t get back into the game, and with a final score of +9, he will only have to cross his fingers for his friends.

Still, the crowd gave him a standing ovation on the eighteenth hole, which moved the former undefeated champion to tears.

The third round of the 150th edition of The Open begins on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. and will once again be televised in a full marathon until the evening hours by the Golf Channel. Who will come closest to the dream triumph after Saturday?
