Milan Škriniar will travel to the Czech Republic with Inter Milan on Tuesday evening. He will play the second round of the Champions League group stage in Plzeň, while Inter are not in ideal shape.
Inter have not had the best start to the season. It has lost twice in six rounds, with the second defeat coming in the derby against AC Milan. It also failed to score points in the Champions League, losing 0:2 to Bayern Munich.
However, at the weekend, Inter kicked back on the winning streak, beating FC Torino 1-0. It was a much-needed boost of confidence ahead of the match with Plzeň.
“We lost the derby to AC Milan and the Champions League to Bayern, so the atmosphere in the dressing room and in the club was not optimal. We dealt with it amongst ourselves and with the coaches. I’m glad that we managed to win 1-0 against FC Torino at the weekend, we improved our mood and fixed our taste. Now we have another very important game ahead of us,” said Milan Škriniar at the press conference.
The Slovak defender will return to the Czech Republic after three years, having played against Slavia in Eden in the autumn of 2019.
“I was pleased that it is closer to Slovakia than to Italy. As I mentioned before, my family and friends can come here to see me. We have already played against Slavia in the Champions League, now we caught Plzen. We are expecting a tough game again,” the Slovakian international is looking forward to the match.
If Inter want to think about qualifying from the group, they cannot afford to falter in Plzeň. That is why he has prepared thoroughly for Viktoria.
“Pilsen has a very good team. The coach has set up the right system. We saw the matches in Baku against Karabakh and in Barcelona, we analysed their game. The biggest weapon is that they are a very physically prepared team. We’ll definitely keep an eye on that. We also have to eliminate their long balls and quick counter-attacks,” he highlighted the Czech champion’s strengths.
