Sharp angle and weaker left hand? No problem, Ronaldo opened the scoring against Liechtenstein with a great shot.
Cristiano Ronaldo continues to be a goalscoring machine at 38. He also scored in the last national team match against Liechtenstein, when he opened the scoring with a great goal in the 46th minute.
Cristiano Ronaldo continues to be a goalscoring machine at 38. He alsoscored in the last national team match against Liechtenstein, when he opened the scoring with a great goal in the 46th minute .
9 matches, 10 goals across club and national team, these are the current numbers of the Portuguese star. Cristiano Ronaldo also confirmed his key scoring role in the last national team match at the ground of outsider Liechtenstein.
As in all qualifying duels for EURO 2024, the Portuguese were the clear favourites on Thursday, but struggled in the first half in one of Europe’s smallest countries.
The second half looked very different for Roberto Martinez’s charges and the team from the Iberian Peninsula opened the scoring in the 46th minute. Who else should have been the saviour but the long-time Portuguese captain.
The duo Felix, Diogo Jota showed a great acceleration on the left flank of the pitch. The latter sent Ronaldo out with a pass behind the defensive line, the Portuguese captain then dealt with a sharp angle and a weaker left foot.
In the end, the Portuguese defeated the home team with a final score of 2:0 and still hold a 100% success rate in qualifying for the European Championship.
After 9 matches played, Ronaldo’s squad has 27 points with 34 goals scored. It should be noted that the Portuguese certainly don’t have the toughest qualifying group this year.
Slovakia, Luxembourg, Iceland, Bosnia and Herzegovina and the aforementioned Liechtenstein were fighting for qualification. With the 2016 European champions in Germany, the Slovak national team is now certain to advance.
The EURO in our western neighbours is likely to be the star Cristiano’s last appearance at a European championship, and the Portuguese certainly have the quality squad to repeat their success from France 2016 next year.
