Scary footage from the USA! Fighter was out after a submission, woke up to a nasty elbow. Will the referee lose his license?
MMA offers both beautiful and terrifying moments. Unfortunately, the latter was on display overseas at a Fury FC tournament when one fighter’s health was seriously compromised. The referee is facing challenges to his license revocation.

Combat sports are unique. Fighters go into them knowing that something unpleasant could happen. But the worst should never happen. That’s what the referee is there for, to intervene in time. And the doctors, who decide if the fighter can continue.
But the referee has the final say, and even the fact that the doctors yell from behind the cage to stop the fight doesn’t have to be taken into account. And that’s exactly what happened Friday night at Fury FC when two Mexican fighters faced each other in the main event.
The Fury FC 76 gala was to be headlined by a main event between 27-year-old Edgar Cháirez and the one-year older Gianni Vazquez. And indeed it was an interesting spectacle, only for a frightening scenario to unfold in the fourth round.
Cháírez was able to deploy a successful triangle and Vazquez couldn’t get out of it. He was clearly out of it, but he was still moving. And even though there was already a call from behind the cage that the fight should be stopped, the referee didn’t react and the fight continued.
Chaírez eventually went from a triangle to an armbar and began to armlock Vazquez, who was just lying motionless, and it’s obvious from the footage that the arm was damaged. During the extra wrestling, Vazquez came to and eventually tapped out.
It was only at that point that the referee actually stopped the fight. The crazy footage has been making the rounds on social media and experts are calling for one thing. The referee who was in the cage should lose his license immediately, because we really don’t want to see anything like this.
As for Vazquez, he was taken to hospital after the game and was unable to move his injured arm. The results of his examination are not yet known, but according to journalist Alex Behunin, it is obvious that he has at best a severe dislocation of the elbow joint.
