Cristiano Ronaldo and his former Juventus teammates face a 30-day ban. But that’s not the worst of it, according to the latest information the Italian big club may fear further sanctions, whereupon one of them is relegation or withdrawal of the title.
In recent months, Juventus has been investigated for fraud in player transfers between 2018 and 2020. The club’s management illegally took commissions and reported false profits to investors. It should be added that this case has been under investigation for quite some time.
Last year, the club was acquitted of all charges, but now the penalties have fallen anyway. Pavel Nedved was also part of the whole case, who officially parted ways with Juventus a few days ago.
The former Czech international was banned for eight months and the former Juventus officials did not escape punishment either.
For example, former chairman Andrea Agnelli and former chief executive Maurizio Arrivabene cannot work in football for two years. So Nedved still fared well, even though the Italian federation originally considered giving him a one-year suspension.
The club itself then received the penalty of a deduction of fifteen points. However, in addition to the eleven current or former officials, even the players themselves face punishment, Ronaldo being one of them. And for what?
Because, as Paolo Ziliani, who shared images of Juventus’ balance sheet, explains on his Twitter account, the club allegedly signed an agreement with the players whereby three of the four salaries were paid off that balance sheet. This was in 2020 due to financial difficulties linked to the coronavirus pandemic.
It can be said, therefore, that Juventus did not actually acknowledge these payments for the players at all, while Ziliani also reveals other facts.
Will there be a repeat of 2006?
“Juventus captain Chiellini reportedly told other players not to disclose this detail to the media.” And he added that the obtained WhatsApp communication is to serve as proof.
He goes on to claim that up to 40 players in total could face bans, including coach Sarri. Indeed, according to this report, it may not end in a mere points deduction or a 30-day ban.
“Juventus could be sanctioned with further point deductions and fines ranging from 1 to 3 times the amount involved. CR7’s wages alone are worth €19.6 million. Further sanctions could include automatic relegation from the 2019/20 season.”
Of course, we’ll have to wait for more official information, but according to this report, it looks like the Italian giant has something to worry about. Again.
