MMA promoter of Real Fight Arena (RFA) Boris Marhansky gave an extensive interview in which he revealed his organization’s plans in the field of martial arts.
RFA faces a harsh reality
The new RFA organization flew into the combat sports market with big announcements that promised very lofty goals. The organization, headed by Boris Marhansky, declared an assault on the highest rungs of the domestic scene by the end of this year.
This would mean leaving behind a brand such as the biggest organization in the market right now, Oktagon MMA. The latter has seen an expansion into the German market through a June tournament in Frankfurt, where it has shown unprecedented success.
But RFA had to face a harsh reality last time out in July when its tournament in Ostrava coincided with Prague’s Štvanica, which is considered the mixed martial arts tournament of the year. And it has to be added that, at least in terms of ratings and media interest, the RFA lost out on the full.
Marhansky reveals expansion into Hungary
Even so, the organization is not folding its arms and its plans are focused towards foreign audiences as well. “It looks like January next year,” Marhanský told Kaocko.cz about the expansion into Hungary.
“We wanted to do it this year, but some technical things in the hall got complicated,” he said, describing the problems of hosting a tournament abroad. “It’s not signed yet and I don’t like to announce something that is not in black and white,” he explained.
“Anyway, I believe we will finish it within the next week,” he said. “And it looks like it will not only be Hungary, we have another country in mind,” he revealed.
It’s not easy to get star fighters to join the team
Marhansky then spoke about possible reinforcements that would increase the quality of the next tournaments. One target is Russian wrestler Mikhail Ragozin, who could challenge the organization’s star Vojta Garba. “I don’t think this will be Vojta’s next fight, but I believe we can make it happen,” Marhansky said.
In recent weeks, there has been speculation about the possibility of Viktor Pesta or Samuel Kristofich coming to the team. But both have offers from better overseas organizations and will not strengthen the organization anytime soon.
“We are dealing with a well-known fighter from Poland and not only him, ” he revealed. “In the game is the arrival of a very good fighter who is around 110th in the world rankings,” he added.
