Marco Reus is an unquestionable legend of Borussia Dortmund, but his contract expires in 2023 and there is not much talk of an extension. How does he see his future and what advice does he have for Erling Haaland?

The Borussia Dortmund captain is now 32 years old. The best years of his career are probably behind him thanks to health problems, but he still maintains a high level of performance and his health has also served him relatively well in the last two seasons.

Soon, however, Marco Reus will have to deal with his contract, which expires in the summer of 2023 at the Westphalian club. However, it is expected that it will be extended.

“We haven’t started negotiations yet, but I have already extended my contract here twice, even in times when things were not the best for the club from a sporting point of view. Why should it be different now? I enjoy being able to lead this team as captain,” the German international told Bild.

This season, the German offensive all-rounder has good numbers. In 30 games he has scored 9 goals and added 10 assists, his collaboration with Erling Haaland, who is now the star of the team, is working well.

But Haaland’s future in the team is in the stars. Borussia is pressing the player to make a decision as soon as possible, Nor wants to rush his decision. But all the big clubs across Europe are interested in him. Understandably, they can offer him better money than Dortmund.

But Reus has clear advice for the talented striker: “I would advise him to stay here. He has everything he needs to develop further at Dortmund. He can play Champions League here, score goals and feel appreciated to the maximum. But he has to decide for himself what is best for him.”
