Rafael Nadal is not getting old. Even at the age of 35, he is still able to perform on the court as he did at the beginning of his career. He proved that in the second round of the Australian Open.

Last year was not the happiest for Rafael Nadal. Unusually, he crashed out of the French Open in the quarter-finals and for the first time since 2017, he lost a match in France and did not win the title.

An injury to his left leg, which caused him to miss both Wimbledon and the US Open. But after almost three quarters of a year, he is back on the top stage. Before the Australian Open, he got himself back on track and, judging by the first two rounds, he quickly put himself in the running for the trophy. Especially in the absence of Novak Djokovic.

Nadal has a lot of motivation in Melbourne. If he dominates the Australian Open, he will become the first player from the “big three” (Federer, Nadal, Djokovic) to have 21 Grand Slams. And the Mallorca native has been relentlessly pursuing that goal since his first serve in the tournament.

In the second round against Yannick Hanfmann, it was once again a Spanish concert. Nadal entertained the fans in the stands and in front of the TV with his art. In the end, he won the match 3: 0 after sets of 6-2, 6-3 and 6-4.

Although he is now 35 years old and had several health problems, especially with his knees, it did not take away from his speed. Catching the ball already out of the court and still finishing it with a winning cross? Nadal is a master at that.

Nadal is also known for the fact that even when he is under the most pressure, he often pulls off an incredible winning shot to take away his opponent’s hopes. He did the same in the first set at 2-2.
