The Player of the Month award went to Mohamed Salah, beating Ben Chilwell (Chelsea), Declan Rice (West Ham) and Phil Foden (Manchester City) in the fans’ vote. The Coach of the Month was Thomas Tuchel, who continues to reign supreme in the Premier League with Chelsea.

Salah has won the award for the fourth time in his career, having last won it for his March 2018 performances. So far this season, the Player of the Season award has had a different winner each time (Antonio, Ronaldo and now Salah).

In addition to the aforementioned English trio, Aaron Ramsdale (Arsenal), Tino Livramento (Southampton), Maxwel Cornet (Burnley) and Youri Tielemans (Leicester) have also been nominated.

Salah, however, has been virtually undefendable over the past month, doing whatever he wanted with opposing defences. Out of Liverpool’s 14 goals, he has had a hand in 9 of them (5 goals and 4 assists) and with 10 goals, he reigns the scorers’ table. So the October award has a well-deserved winner.

Salah’s game against Manchester United was particularly successful, as Liverpool beat him by a class difference and won 5-0. The Egyptian winger himself scored three times at Old Trafford, something no player in Premier League history has ever managed.

His goal solos against Manchester City and Watford were also unforgettable, both goals can aspire to be the goal of the year.

Thomas Tuchel was then named coach of the month. There were no surprises here either. He beat Jürgen Klopp (Liverpool), David Moyes (West Ham) and Patrick Vieira (Crystal Palace) in a direct managers’ battle.

The German coach led his team to 4 league wins. The Blues have beaten Brentford, Southampton, Norwich and Newcastle to remain 100% in October.

Thanks to these results, Chelsea is thus at the top of the Premier League and confirms its role as a big favourite for the title. For Tuchel, then, winning this award is a first, but one can count on it not being the last.
