Pochettino’s Chelsea falter yet again as rumblings start to creak around grumpy Stamford Bridge
Feeling the heat from fans, media and board alike, likeable Argentine manager and former Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino might be enviously looking up the road to North London.
The start of the season for the much-fancied Blues has been an absolute train wreck and tensions are rising already it appears with a trigger-happy American owner appearing to be losing patience with a billion-pound squad firing blanks.
Stuck in 14th place and only 4 points away from the dreaded drop, could the impossible happen? Could the mighty Chelsea be relegated?
With a young squad in disarray and seemingly out of the European shakeup after only 6 games, is this a case of overconfidence from an out-of-his-depth Todd Boehly?
With reports of players and staff disillusioned and co-owner Behdad Eghbali, trying to mend fences, there is much to do in a season which promised so much at the start.
Badly missing club captain Reece James who is a few weeks away from full fitness, this is a team in need of players stepping up rather quickly before the knives start to sharpen.
Perhaps a Monday night away game on the 2nd of October against London rivals Fulham could be the tonic needed to soothe the wounds?
Before then, however, a high-flying and mega-confident Brighton awaits on Wednesday night in the EFL Cup 3rd round. Perhaps a long cup run can help fans forget this horror movie of a season. If so, they will need to be at their best to stop the exciting Seaguls who are gliding rather sweetly so far in 2023.
The growing up needs to happen immediately for a Chelsea team ravaged by a lack of confidence and requiring shrewd new-signing goalscorer extraordinaire Christopher Nkunku back as soon as possible.
