Pochettino: We need to talk and improve in the next transfer market
Mauricio Pochettino is not having the most pleasant time on the Chelsea bench. The 0:2 loss to Everton, who are fighting for salvation, certainly didn’t boost the confidence of the whole London team. The engagement at Stamford Bridge didn’t exactly start ideally for the Argentine coach and so far it hasn’t improved much either.

The engagement at Stamford Bridge did not start ideally for the Argentine coach and so far it has not improved much.
The game against Everton
Everton entered the game in the same style they played the game against Newcastle. They tried to keep the ball on their hoofs and not let Chelsea into any pressure. During the first 15 minutes, the visitors threatened mainly thanks to breakaway situations. Especially Cole Palmer and Mykhailo Mudryk gave the Toffees’ central defenders a problem.
As time went on, Chelsea started to play more with the ball on their hoof and the teams’ roles reversed. However, the first half produced nothing apart from a beautiful volley from outside the box by Jack Harrison. The game was tied at the end.
However, Everton entered the second half very well and Abdoulaye Doucoure scored the opening goal of the game in the 51st minute. Chelsea tried to conquer the home defence, but when they did get a chance, Jordan Pickford made a great save. Lewis Dobbin sealed the win late on.
Chelsea won’t remember the game well, and not just because of the result. The team’s captain Reece James and goalkeeper Robert Sánchez were injured again. The Englishman has a hamstring problem and the Spanish goalkeeper suffered from a knee injury, which had already troubled him in the match against Manchester United.
Pochettino at the press conference
The Argentine was not happy with the performance of his players, especially the offensive work: “I am not satisfied. This is a game we have to win. But if we don’t score, it’s difficult. We have to analyse the game to see where the mistakes were.”
Chelsea have made a large number of transfers during the last two transfer windows, leading journalists to ask Pochettino if he plans to make any changes to the squad in the January transfer market. The Argentine answered cautiously at first: “When the transfer window opens, we will see what can be done. I’m not going to ask for more or less players.”
But as the journalists continued, the Chelsea coach decided to add a few more words: “ We have to sit down and discuss everything. Something is missing and we have to change it.” The question, however, is how much weight Pochettino will carry in the decision.
Chelsea are in 10th place in the Premier League, a position they hovered around last season. If the Blues are struggling with anything, it is, like Manchester United, unstable performances.
