Pastrnak the star of the All-Stars ahead of McDavid and MacKinnon, he shined again with this “floorball” raid
David Pastrnak is undoubtedly one of the NHL’s biggest stars and one of the best hockey players on the planet. He proved it again in Saturday’s All-Stars game, where he managed to entertain the crowd again with his “floorball” raid.
David Pastrnak is undoubtedly one of the NHL’s biggest stars and one of the best hockey players on the planet. He proved it again in Saturday’s All-Stars game, where he managed to entertain the crowd again with his “floorball” raid.
The NHL has named four captains for All-Stars weekend. Quinn Hughes, Auston Matthews, Nathan MacKinnon and Connor McDavid. Each got an assistant from his team, with Vancouver’s running back Elias Pettersson, American sniper Morgan Reilly, Colorado center Cale Makar and the best hockey player of the moment partnered with Leon Draisaitl.
On Friday, it was the turn of the draft, with team leaders and their celebrity captain choosing players for their selections. McDavid picked fourth and fifth, first selecting goalie Connor Hellebuyck, then the Czech star, adding that they needed someone who can referee games.
Saturday’s 3-on-3 matchup pitted McDavid and MacKinnon against each other, followed by Hughes and Matthews. In the first matchup, the trio of Draisaitl – McDavid – Pastrnak took the first faceoff and were opposed by Crosby – MacKinnon – Makar. Truly the best of the best.
It was the second trio that opened the scoring, McDavid’s team equalized after a Jenner goal, Tomas Hertl also had an assist. After that, the yellow team went ahead twice, only to be denied by David Pastrnak.
Pastrnak showed the “floorball” shootout
First he swept the crossbar beautifully and reduced the score to 2:3, then with six seconds left he found McDavid in front of the empty net and he sent the game to the shootout. The Canadian, like a good captain, was the first to score and converted. But after that, Bobrovsky and Swayman were the goalies, catching attempts from Crosby, Draisaitl and MacKinnon.
In the third series, Pastrnak could have ended it all, facing his Boston teammate Jeremy Swayman. The Havířov native was on a roll and once again pulled off his “floorball” rush, leaving the puck a little behind him and then slamming it into the net.
Pastňák was rightfully named the star of the first game in competition with McDavid, Draisaitl, MacKinnon, Crosby, Makar and others.
From the second game, Matthews’ team advanced to the finals, and then played against McDavid’s team. The game was a big shootout, with Pastrnak again scoring a goal and an assist, but the core team from Toronto won 7:4 in front of the home crowd.
The NHL All-Stars experienced a new format that was certainly better than the previous one and attracted more fans to the screens. However, it is still a bit lacking in working with them.
